CAROL ANN JONES, age 84, devoted lifelong and best friend of her dear husband, entered into Eternal Rest on December 14, 2019. Born in PA, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy and Reese Bender, and is survived by her husband D. Robert Jones and daughters Robin Lord and husband Harry of Ocean City, NJ, Linda Smith of Myrtle Beach, and from Oregon, brother Reese Bender, and sister Linda Erickson and husband Jim of AZ, also grandchildren Valerie, Steven, and Amy, and great grandchild Lily.
Carol‘s most enjoyable times were spent with her husband of 63 years and children, camping, fishing, and traveling. She also loved a good book.
A dedicated member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in SC, she had been a member of the Women‘s Circle, Choir, Finance/Spiritual/Evangelism and Worship Committees, and Coordinator of Liturgy. She also worked with the planning committee for the Community Ecumenical Services and worked with visitation on the Congregational Care Committee.
In younger years in PA, she was an active scouter, having been leader to both Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts. She was a Nursing Assistant, also Transporation Director of a Nursery School, and later spent many happy years as Nanny for babies and toddlers.
Carol had been active in Faith Presbyterian Church in NJ, where she initiated the church‘s first newsletter, The Beacon, and started the Hispanic/Anglican Program. Having been Coordinator of food for Jean Webster‘s homeless program in Atlantic City, NJ, she was one of the original board members of the Jean Webster Foundation.
Bob and Carol Jones loved their retirement villeage of Leisuretowne, NJ, where Carol volunteered for TOUCH - helping elderly residents, Recreation Committee, planning events such as Country Western Line Dance classes (one of her favorite activites); Leisuretown Singers, Exercise Class, and Curtain Callers where she wrote and produced a comedic version of Twas the Night Before Christmas and several other plays.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Surfside, SC on Saturday, December 21st at 2 pm.
