James Alexander Wright, 68, passed away at home on Saturday October 5th in the community of Socastee, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Known to those who close to him as Jim, he was born October 12, 1950 in Sanford North Carolina to the late Wilbur and Roselyn Wright of Sanford and Gastonia, North Carolina
Jim was a 1968 graduate of Ashley High School of Gastonia North Carolina and a 1972 graduate of Belmont Abbey College in Belmont North Carolina.
Retired from the City of Asheville, North Carolina in 2014 and moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he became a member of the Socastee Baptist Church Community.
Always known as a calm spirit, loyal friend and loving father, he is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Earle Wright of 42 years. Together they raised two children; his son Josh Alexander Wright and daughter in Law Nicole Wright and two grandchildren, Madeleine and Lucas Wright of Winston Salem, North Carolina; daughter Jena Leigh Goodman, and granddaughter, Alexandra Necole Koone of Cramerton, North Carolina.
He is also survived by one sister, Susan Heller Wright of Des Perez, Missouri; Sister-in-Law, Trish Wagoner and Husband Darrell Wagoner of Burlington, North Carolina.
Always the avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed the mountains and the coast, loving nature and outdoor sporting activities. He will long be remembered by those who knew him for he touched several people with his caring spirit.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial of his life on Thursday October 10th at 2:30 at Socastee Baptist Church, 3690 Socastee Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
