Marguerite "Peggy" A. O'KeefeMay 30, 1936 ~ October 25, 2017 (age 81)
Marguerite A. OKeefe, who was known by her family and friends as Peggy, died on Wednesday, October 25th at her home in Jensen's. She was 81 years old. For the last two years, she was cared for by Home Instead and then in the last week by Amedisys Hospice.
Peggy was born in Ridgewood, New York City, NY, a daughter to the late Eugene and Alice Forttrell (Wilcox). She and her family moved to Flushing (Queen's County) New York when she was five years old. Peggy also formerly lived in Delanson, New York for approximately 20 years. She was married to Joseph O'Keefe for more than 40 years until he passed away at their home in Jensen's. Peggy continued to live at their home in Jensen's until her death.
Peggy is survived by her younger sister, Gail Zappone, Gail’s husband Frank, their three children Chris, Jenny and Melinda, also her brother Peter Fortrell and his wife Lorene and their three children, Connie, Megan and Kristen. Mrs. OKeefe was also the grandaunt to one grandnephew and six grandnieces.
Peggy was a register nurse for 30 years. She loved quilting and gardening and made beautiful quilts for her family and friends and was also a great cook. More recently she volunteered at Brookgreen Gardens as well as Waccamaw Hospital. Peggy was loved by her family and friends and she will always be cherished.
